The unique shape and texture of this dish comes from vintage pressed glass. The shape is adapted to hold 16 ounces (a full can of soup). Our dark brown clay is carefully pressed into the plaster mold and the bowl interior is made nice and smooth. It is then coated with porcelain slip to create a blank canvas for decorating with vibrant underglazes. The line work is the result of carving through the decorative layers to the dark brown clay beneath. A technique known as sgraffito. The exterior gets a dip in our signature tin white glaze to highlight the surface texture.
