All of our mugs are hand built from textured soft slabs of clay, dipped in porcelain slip and hand painted on the exterior using vibrant underglazes.The bold line work is the result of carving through the decorative layers to the dark brown clay beneath. A technique known as sgraffito. The interior impressions are accented with a tin white glaze that highlights the subtle surface texture.
