The unique shape is coil built starting from a unique triangular vintage glass dish. The resulting form has a gradual taper with a soft triangular opening at the rim. The dark brown clay is then coated with an opaque layer of porcelain slip which brightens the handpainted color. A dark graphic outline is carved through the decorative layers to the clay beneath. This technique is called sgraffito. The piece is glazed inside and out with a clear glossy glaze except for the triangular base which showcases the velvety look of our brown clay.
