💚Ha, it’s February! Time to finish up the next small batch release inspired by my recent trip to Ireland. This is one of my trickiest press molds to fill. Hoping the shape gives me luck🍀

Fun fact: Red is my most expensive underglaze costing 3 times as much as other colors. It’s also very tricky to get the clear glaze the perfect thickness. Therefore, red pots are pretty rare. I have 5 shades of red. Light red and radiant red are my favorites. I use two pints of each per year!

Commissioned dinnerware set for 6, circa many year

Commissioned dinnerware set for 6, circa many years ago. This trusting and patient client put together a color palette based on their love for this platter. I had free rein to curate a selection of complimentary patterns to complete a full place setting.

Every plate has a unique border. The inside is porcelain white with a white dot. Maybe now that I have a fancy new square kiln I should make more dinner plates!!! What do you think? Would you collect and curate your own set plate by plate or prefer to preorder a specific pattern?

Still using my wedding china with my hand painted serving ware. These platters shown in my china hutch are up for grabs online and could be a starting point for a fabulous dinner ware collection.

Flexing this summery mug stack 🔥🔥🔥in the new kiln. I set one mug in each zone to see the effect of the heat work on my clay and glazes. Perfectly even temperature top to bottom. 🙌🏻

Love this editing feature to unroll all that pattern in one frame r is it an epic 9 cups of coffee Monday?! Painting this pattern reminds me of sunbathing in a meadow filled with wildflowers in Cortona, Italy. I studied ceramics abroad the summer of 1995 and have always wanted to go back. At the time I was really focused on my figurative work, however, you can see the imprint visiting the majolica studios in Deruta made on my pottery today.

❤️Having fun with these guys but wondering if this method of decorating gave me tendonitis or maybe a tense week of driving in Ireland. 😬

I try so hard to keep my body in shape so I can continue making pots forever. Rock climbing the other night was probably not the best idea but it was really fun. 😣

Going to squeeze some clay and roll some coils for awhile then ice. I promise to rest this weekend. I really need to slow down in 2023. Hold me to it, please! I have so many ideas but need to be better about managing my pace. Anyone else have this dilemma?

Food coloring and tissue transfer with latex resist, multiple layers of underglaze and sgraffito work. Using my Meredith Host ashtray to collect sgraffito crumbs! Now to paint the back! 😅
BTW I love this silicone hot pad for getting parallel lines on a curved surface.

We have lift off, finally!!

Currently 60-1600F in 3 hours and so stinky. The kiln is empty except for the freshly painted shelves and cone packs. Burning off all the manufacturing junk and properly setting the elements before I load it full of pots.

Can’t remember if I need to keep all the spies open for the exhaust vent to work or just the top one. 🤷🏻‍♀️
